Seattle is full of museums and galleries, great coffee, diverse food and surrounded by some of the most stunning views you will ever see. From kayaking on the Puget Sound, to Mount Rainier’s outline hovering over the skyline you are never far from something to do!

I wasn’t sure what to expect from Bilbao after hearing so-so comments from other travelers, but as always I went with an open mind. I got lucky with beautiful weather and ended up meeting some really nice locals, so I have to say it beat my expectations! The Guggenheim is really impressive, both the building and the exhibits I saw. Walking along the river lined with huge green trees you can’t help but be happy. Plenty of outdoor cafes to enjoy. Driving is tricky, the streets are a set of windy one-ways, but I managed! In the end I wished I had more time to spend there.

Vienna, Austria is a European city that should be in your “travel wish list” if it isn’t already. I loved this city, it is brimming with culture and arts. It is stunning to look at and it has plenty to explore and experience. From palaces with vast gardens, labyrinths, and fountains that date back to the Habsburg monarchs, to the colorful, artsy and whimsical building inspired by Hundertwasser. Food, music and museums are a must-experience in this amazing city.

The only place in the world you can find Sarcophagi in the streets, Fethiye is a must see destination on Turkey’s turquoise coast. With the Kings Tombs carved into the mountains, the beautiful blue waters of Oludeniz beach (the blue lagoon), the eerie ruins of Kayakoy ghost village, the many hiking options and the rustic nature of the villages nestled in and amongst the city make Fethiye an all round destination to suit any traveller.

If you’re an ancient history geek like me then you’ll love this city. My wife and I went for the weekend (which was plenty of time to explore most sites) and found the sites mesmerising. From the Colosseum, to the Pantheon (my favourite), to the numerous Piazza’s, to the Vatican – you are spoiled for choice! Step back in time and enjoy!

Bologna, off the beaten track for many tourists, and so easily overlooked for Italy. It has skyrocketed to my favorite Italian city ahead of Rome or Florence. It is the city of porticos and stunning architecture, while its medieval offerings, art & artifacts are not as obvious and well know, they are equally delightful and far more accessible. What else is great, the people, they aren’t over run with dealing with the constant flow of tourists, they find us foreigners interesting and are only too keen to ensure you have a good time and get to see the best the town has to offer. Of course the food is fantastic too, but that is a given for where it is located in the heart of Italy’s food production region. GO!

Stockholm is one of my favorite European cities. Apart from its breathtaking location (it is often referred to as “Venice of the North”), it is home to top-notch museums (eg. Moderna Museet), a picture-perfect old town, an impressive palace, the best vegetarian restaurant in Scandinavia (Hermans), the world’s most delicious pancakes, my home away from home (Hotel J in Nacka Strand), and of course, quirky Södermalm!

Another adventurer’s dream. There are so many unique hikes and sights to see in Iceland. Also, the city of Reykjavic is cool, modern, walker friendly, and lively at night. We also loved the Blue Lagoon!

Many agree that Stockholm is the most beautiful city in europe. It’s very strange when you arrived in this city, midway between medieval city in the old city center and provincial charm with the port and longships. The days are very pleasant : a visit to the heart of Swedish culture with the Abba museum, or the discovery of Drakkar the longest in Europe, but also a walk in the Royal Gardens, Stockholm is the city to discover this summer. Between charm and culture, this city will surprise you.
